Tarot for Yourself

How to Read Tarot Cards for Yourself

If you wonder, is it okay to provide a tarot reading for yourself, the answer is yes. It is recommended and very beneficial, especially for self-reflection.  The primary purpose is to give you access to your intuition, a place/source of your wisdom. The answers to all your questions are there.

It would be best if you thought of every reading as a mirror. It’s hard to be objective when it comes to us, but the tarot can help you see what you can’t do otherwise. This mirror will show you everything you (don’t) like about yourself.

Increase the Power of Reading for Yourself

To make each subsequent reading as productive as possible, try the following:

Have one corner of your home set aside for this purpose.

That corner should be your oasis of peace. That means zero distraction. Get a few candles, incense sticks, and essential oils to keep you extra relaxed. The chair must be comfortable, and the reading table large enough for card spreads.

Get a few different packs of tarot or oracle cards. Each deck has its purpose so try a few different ones to find the right one, or ones, for you. When buying decks, in addition to the purpose itself, consider your intuition. Which deck draws you into it to learn more? Which deck do you feel the most connected to? You need to buy that one for sure.

Learn from Others!

Now that you are prepared, it is time to start researching. Thanks to the Internet, you can learn everything online. You need to invest time because tarot reading is not that simple. To begin, study the basics of tarot. You need to know what each deck’s symbolism stands for in its meaning. Learn what the symbols stand for and what each card means. Of course, the symbols can vary depending on the deck, but there are also universal ones (cups, pentacles, swords, wands). Study their meaning and symbolism.

The next step is to learn about different spreads. It is easy to start with a one-card spread if you are a beginner. But there are other options as well, two-card spread, three-card, five-card, ten-card (Celtic cross), and more. You must know how to place the cards correctly. Likewise, you can use each spread for a specific purpose or multiple purposes. The main thing that matters is that you ask open-ended, specific questions.

Each card has its meaning. It would be helpful if you did online research to understand the reading. Many websites will allow you to learn the purpose of each card meaning individually. You can also read various blogs on this subject and listen to those who have mastered tarot reading or take a course to learn the meaning of the cards. You can also intuit the card’s meaning simply by looking at it and listening to your higher self’s guidance. If the meaning resonates with your situation, it is usually the truth of the situation.

Trust Yourself!

For the very end, what matters most is your intuition. Thoughts that arise, feelings you sense, and energy you feel about the situation. Always listen to your inner self. It may be challenging at first. But, after a few readings, the tarot will be your primary tool (for different purposes) for self reflection. It can give you an insight into long-buried emotions, desires, and ways to reach your goals. It can make your decisions easier, and it can help you grow.
