Why do I feel so disconnected spiritually lately? That question has been on my mind more often these days. For me, spiritual disconnection feels like deep exhaustion—a craving for rest and stillness that no quick fix can soothe. When I’m in that space, I want to hide from everything. I need stillness. To help myself, I turn to crocheting and watching mindless TV. These simple acts keep my logical brain busy and let my creative mind breathe. The rhythm of crochet becomes a meditation, filling me in ways words can’t describe.
The Weight of the World
But why do these feelings surface now, and why so intensely? Part of it is the nonstop 24-hour news cycle. Each morning, I wake up wondering what horrors unfolded while I slept. Fear is peddled daily. Cruelty—both here in the U.S. and across the world—is broadcast nonstop. This constant barrage wears down even the strongest spirit.
I’ve noticed that this disconnection affects how I show up in my work as a medium and spiritual teacher. But Spirit guides me to write more about this topic. I may not be able to change the whole world, but I can influence the person who can.
When I begin to reconnect, I first notice a shift: I’m not as affected by the media’s chaos. I find myself doing something—anything—to help the greater good. I refuse to stand silent amid all the ugly, hate, and fear.
We are not alone
What I most want to share is this: we all play a role in healing our world. My guiding words—align, community, and hope—carry me through. Of those, hope feels the most powerful. It’s hope that fuels courage and kindness when the darkness feels overwhelming.
If you’re feeling disconnected spiritually, know you’re not alone. This too is part of the journey. Rest, find your quiet, and remember that even small acts can light the way forward.
