Trusting What You Receive: Strengthening Your Confidence in Spirit Communication
Trusting what you receive as a medium is a journey—one that requires patience, practice, and the courage to let go. Just like learning to ride a bike, mediumship involves mastering multiple skills at once. At first, balancing, steering, and pedaling can feel like too much to handle. But with time, these actions become second nature. The same applies to mediumship—each experience builds your trust, and soon enough, you stop overthinking. The magic happens when trust becomes part of you.
The Courage to Deliver What You Receive
There will be times when the messages Spirit sends seem completely off the wall. But often, the messages that feel the most bizarre to you are exactly what the sitter needs.
I’ll never forget the day I saw two kangaroos jumping on a trampoline during a reading. Everything in me wanted to hold it back—I was certain the sitter would think I was nuts. But a little voice inside nudged me to give the message.
To my surprise, the sitter began to cry. I had connected with her gymnastics teacher, who used to call two of her students her “kangaroos” because they never wanted to leave the trampoline. That moment taught me something profound: When Spirit gives you a message, even if it sounds strange, trust it. It’s being delivered for a reason.
Building Trust Through Practice
Confidence in Spirit communication doesn’t come overnight—it grows through experience. Just like you can’t ride a bike perfectly on the first try, you can’t expect every reading to flow effortlessly at the beginning. Each attempt, even the awkward ones, adds to your skill. Mistakes aren’t setbacks—they’re stepping stones to greater understanding.
Journaling was essential for me early on. Writing down my experiences allowed me to recognize patterns and understand how Spirit communicates with me. Meditation and conversations with my Spirit guides became my foundation. I trust my guides completely, knowing they only deliver what serves the highest good for Spirit, the sitter, and myself.
Overcoming Doubt: Journaling as a Tool for Growth
I tell all my students to journal, even though many fight it at first. But the truth is, journaling is a powerful tool for breaking through self-doubt. Writing down your experiences not only helps you reflect but also reveals patterns that build trust over time.
When you begin to see how small messages connect and grow, your confidence expands. It’s not about immediate validation—it’s about trusting the process and your ability to serve Spirit.
It’s About Service, Not Control
New mediums often rely on validation from sitters to build confidence, and that’s perfectly normal. But over time, you learn that not every message will make sense in the moment—and that’s okay. Sometimes, we are simply planting a seed. Days, weeks, or even months later, the sitter may call and say, “Now I get what you meant!”
That’s the beauty of Spirit’s timing—it’s not ours to control. Our role is to serve, not to steer the outcome. Once you release the need for control, you free yourself to focus on what truly matters: showing up, giving your best, and trusting that Spirit will handle the rest.
Trust the Process, Trust Yourself
The heart of mediumship lies in trust—not just in Spirit, but in yourself. Each message you give, each experience you have, builds a foundation of trust that makes future connections stronger. You won’t get everything right every time, and you don’t need to. Just showing up, doing your best, and letting go of perfection is enough.
The more you trust what you receive, the more natural it becomes. It’s not about controlling the outcome—it’s about embracing the process and knowing that every effort counts.
You’ve got this. Each time you step into a reading with an open heart, you strengthen your connection with Spirit and build your confidence. Trust what you receive, give it with love, and know that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
