self-doubt

Self-doubt is a common companion on the journey of mediumship. Many mediums, especially in the early stages, experience uncertainty about their abilities and their connection with Spirit. It’s important to recognize that self-doubt is a natural part of the process and that overcoming it can lead to profound growth and empowerment. Failure is how you learn, but too often we are focused on perfection.

Understanding Self-Doubt

Self-doubt is the inner voice that questions our abilities and worth. It can stem from various sources, such as societal expectations, fear of failure, or past experiences. In the context of mediumship, self-doubt can manifest as skepticism about the validity of messages received or anxiety about the accuracy of readings. The words of others and their rejection of what you are doing can play a factor. You must decide for yourself and learn to tune out the negativity.

The Role of Self-Belief

Self-belief is crucial in mediumship. Trusting in your abilities and your connection with Spirit enhances your confidence and clarity during readings. When you believe in yourself, you create a positive feedback loop that strengthens your mediumship practice. If you want this, and I believe you do, you are going to have to become your own biggest cheerleader. Nobody is going to do this for you. You will come upon those who feel threatened by you and will try to break you down to build themselves up.

Techniques to Overcome Self-Doubt

    • Affirmations and Positive Self-Talk: Use affirmations to reinforce your confidence. Phrases like, “I am a skilled and intuitive medium,” can help shift your mindset.
    • Visualization Exercises: Visualize successful readings and positive outcomes. This practice can help you build a mental image of success, reducing anxiety and boosting confidence.
    • Seeking Feedback and Validation: Share your experiences with trusted friends, mentors, or development circles. Constructive feedback and validation from others can reassure you of your abilities.
    • Consistent Practice: Regular practice helps build your skills and confidence over time. The more you practice, the more familiar and comfortable you become with your abilities.

My Overcoming Self-Doubt

Many well-known mediums have faced and overcome self-doubt. For example, I initially struggled with self-belief but eventually embraced my abilities through persistent practice and positive reinforcement.  Oh and a lot of patience for the learning process.  My journey highlights the transformative power of overcoming self-doubt.  If I can do it — so can you!

Practical Tips for Maintaining Confidence

    • Daily Rituals: Establish daily rituals that reinforce your self-belief, such as morning meditations, grounding exercises, or journaling.
    • Supportive Communities: Surround yourself with supportive and like-minded individuals who understand your journey and can offer encouragement.
    • Celebrate Small Victories: Acknowledge and celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Each step forward is a testament to your growth and development.

Overcoming self-doubt is a significant part of the mediumship journey. By embracing techniques that reinforce self-belief, seeking support, and celebrating your progress, you can empower your mediumship abilities and connect more deeply with Spirit. Remember, self-doubt is natural, but it doesn’t define you. Trust in your journey, believe in your abilities, and watch as your mediumship flourishes.
