The Role of Patience in Mediumship: A Personal Journey

Patience in mediumship is not something we often discuss.  Patience is one of the most valuable qualities in mediumship, yet for many—including myself—it’s not something that comes naturally. When I first began developing my abilities, patience was a real struggle. I wanted quick connections and immediate validation. Over time, I’ve learned that patience is not only necessary—it’s essential to connecting with Spirit on a deeper level.

Why Patience Matters in Mediumship

In mediumship, patience creates the space for clear communication. Messages from Spirit don’t always arrive in a neat, orderly way. They may come in fragments or take time to fully unfold. Rushing can lead to confusion, missed details, or even a loss of connection with both Spirit and the sitter. Patience allows the medium to stay open and receptive to the messages, no matter how they arrive.

By being patient, we create room for Spirit to work in its own time. Instead of trying to force the message, we allow it to flow naturally. This space we create allows us to receive more detailed and meaningful messages.

My Struggle with Patience

When I first started, I didn’t have the level of patience I have now. I often found myself rushing through readings, eager to give quick answers. I felt the pressure—sometimes from the sitter and sometimes from myself—to deliver messages as quickly as possible. In my hurry, I missed the deeper, more important details that Spirit was offering.

Learning to slow down wasn’t easy. It required a shift in my thinking and a willingness to trust the process. I had to remind myself that Spirit is always working, even when the message isn’t immediate, and that the right information will come at the right time.

How to Cultivate Patience in Mediumship

Trust the Process
Patience begins with trust. Trust that Spirit is always working with you, even in the quiet moments. Every piece of evidence will come through at the right time.

Embrace the Pause
When there’s a gap between messages, it’s natural to feel pressure to fill the silence. But the pause is valuable. It allows both you and the sitter to reflect, and often, the most meaningful insights come during these moments of stillness.

Let Go of Instant Validation
It’s easy to crave immediate confirmation from the sitter, but rushing toward validation can cause you to miss important details. Trust that the message will land in its own time, and let go of the need for everything to make sense right away.

Practice Slowing Down
Make a conscious effort to slow your pace during readings. Take your time with each message and let it settle before moving to the next. This strengthens your connection and gives the sitter space to absorb what’s been shared.

Recognize Patience as Strength
Patience isn’t something that slows you down—it’s a strength that deepens your connection to Spirit. By being patient, you give Spirit the time to communicate clearly, and you create a more meaningful experience for the sitter.

The Gift of Patience in Mediumship

Patience may not always be easy, but it’s a gift that can transform your mediumship practice. By learning to trust, slow down, and embrace the pauses, you create a stronger connection with Spirit and offer a more meaningful experience to your sitters.

If you’re struggling with patience, know that it’s part of the journey. With practice, patience will develop, and over time, your readings will become clearer, deeper, and more impactful.
