Honoring Your Energy: Learning to Recognize When You Need a Spiritual Reset

I want to talk about how you may need a reset right now.  Have you ever felt exhausted, overwhelmed, or simply off without knowing why? When you’re a spiritually connected person, you naturally attract those who need help—and sometimes, their energy can throw you off balance. That’s why honoring your energy and knowing when to reset is essential. Strong boundaries are not just helpful; they’re necessary.

Recognizing When You Need a Reset

For me, the signs are clear: I feel tired, overwhelmed, and struggle to concentrate. If I’m cranky, short-tempered, or have little patience, it’s a big red flag that I need to reset.

I learned this lesson the hard way when I worked in real estate. In that field, I constantly put my needs aside for my clients. Over time, I became depleted, unable to operate at my best. I found myself needing more alone time just to function. Eventually, I realized that my energy was stretched too thin—and that wasn’t sustainable.

Finding Your Own Reset Practices

A reset looks different for everyone. For me, taking time to simply be is crucial. Traditional guided meditations never worked for me; instead, I discovered that movement helped settle my mind. Walking in the woods, crocheting, cooking, even washing dishes—all of these allow me to drop into a meditative state. Crocheting, in particular, has become a practice of mindfulness for me, offering the same benefits that meditation gives to others.

Sometimes, all I need is a few moments of focused breathing. Other times, I need a full day—or more—of deep rest. The key is recognizing what level of reset is needed in any given moment.

Trusting Your Own Needs

If you think you need a reset, you do. It’s as simple as that. No one else can tell you when it’s time to pause and recharge—you have to trust yourself.

There’s a difference between being temporarily tired and needing deeper spiritual care. If you’re just tired, a good night’s rest will do the trick. But when something feels out of alignment—when there’s a lingering sense that something is missing or no longer serving you—that’s a sign of a deeper shift.

Spiritual development changes you in ways you might not expect. You may outgrow certain relationships, habits, or even careers. Sometimes, your soul is simply calling for something different. Paying attention to these shifts is an important part of your growth.

Journaling Prompts for Reflection

If you’re feeling drained but unsure of why, journaling can help bring clarity. Here are a few prompts to explore:

  • Why am I feeling this way?
  • Why is this irritating me?
  • Why am I struggling to cope?
  • Why does this no longer serve me?

The simple act of asking why can uncover deeper truths about what your soul needs in this moment.

A Final Thought

We all need resets, and they come in different forms. Whether it’s stepping away from a situation, engaging in a soothing activity, or making a bigger life change, honoring your energy is an act of self-care and spiritual alignment.

This week, I invite you to pause and check in with yourself. What is your energy telling you? What do you need to feel balanced again? Listen—and trust the answer.
