There comes a time when the confidence vs. ego comes up in your mediumship development. Confidence in mediumship develops slowly. It grows through practice, reflection, and trust in your own discernment. Ego, by contrast, tends to grow quickly. It feeds on praise, comparison, and the desire to be seen as gifted or exceptional. Learning to tell the difference changed how I work.
Early on, I noticed how good it felt when a message landed strongly. Validation can be intoxicating. I remember leaving a session where everything flowed easily and thinking, I finally have this figured out. That thought alone was the signal. The next sitting felt strained. I pushed. I tried to recreate a feeling rather than stay present.
That experience taught me that confidence stays steady, while ego tries to perform. Confidence allows curiosity. Ego demands results.
Ego often shows up quietly. It sounds like urgency, over-explaining, or needing confirmation. It can also appear as comparison with other mediums or fear of being wrong. None of these mean someone lacks integrity. They mean awareness is needed.
Returning to Grounded Confidence
Confidence comes from repetition and honesty. I learned to ask myself simple questions before and after sessions. Was I present? Did I stay within what I actually received? Did I allow silence when it belonged? Those questions built trust far more than applause ever did.
When ego takes the lead, the body usually signals it. Breath shortens. Focus narrows. The work feels heavier. When confidence leads, the body settles. Information arrives without force. There is room to pause and listen.
Confidence does not require proving anything. It allows you to say no, to stop when the message ends, and to trust that what came through was enough. Ego wants more. Confidence knows when to rest.
Mediumship remains clear when confidence is rooted in responsibility rather than identity. The work is not about being impressive. It is about being accurate, ethical, and present.
Confidence grows when ego is noticed and gently set aside. That awareness does not weaken the work. It strengthens it. Each time you choose presence over performance, trust deepens, and the channel stays clear.
