Daffodils

I originally posted this post about Natural Born Medium
on April 17, 2016. Today I think it matters to many.
My experience with the Spiritualist Community has taught me much. Many make money on the Training of Mediums.  Why when I am around many of them all I hear is cash registers ringing?  This constant barrage of having to be certified to serve is utter baloney.
There is a difference between Natural and Trained Mediums.   Each serve a purpose and the thing that is most important to remember is that no two Mediums are alike, Trained or Natural Born.

Natural Born Medium?

I have had to sit and think about this for a long while before I could put down into words what this really meant for me.  The first time I was told that I was a Natural Born Medium I thought “WTF?”, but I shook my head, smiled sweetly and went on my way.   It didn’t sink in what they were saying.
It took me a good six months to really understand the difference between a trained medium and a Natural Born Medium.  That what that person was saying was that they recognized in me my ability and that they were not being sweet — they were genuine and they were honoring me.   They recognized that my trust with Spirit was deep within me.  That I had found a way to communicate without instruction.   The instruction I did have was about trusting myself and what I was experiencing.

The Certification Questions

Are only Certified Mediums good?   And what Certification process is to be trusted? What they charge varies as well.  Each church has their own process and they don’t all recognize each other’s certificates.   If they can’t agree on a certification process how is the public to trust them?

Registered Mediums at Lily Dale go through a strict process of testing and as a result, they can charge for readings the do on the grounds of Lily Dale.   That doesn’t mean they are good now, it just means they met the criteria at the time they were tested.   No recertification, no continuing education required.   So how is that good for the public?

For the longest time I believed that I had to be Certified, go through some sort of training to be able to do what it is that I do to connect with Spirit.   I started to take classes and suddenly I am Morales in A Chorus Line.

The truth is — I was already connected.  All I needed to do was become quiet enough to hear the advice I was getting and to trust that  I AM A MEDIUM.  I no longer needed to have a certificate or the blessing of anyone to share this gift.   Blessed, I can freely share my gift at many different Churches, and even at Lily Dale as a visiting medium.

I just needed to trust that connection and share with others what I am being impressed with, shown with sight, taste, sound and smell.   Almost 50 years of  thinking something was wrong with me suddenly the realization that there was nothing wrong with me other than my thinking.

Recognizing My Mediumship

I have often thought something was very wrong with me because I never felt it right that I had to do specific things to communicate with Spirit.  The better part of a year I would watch other Mediums and think that something must be very wrong with me.  Yet each class that I looked at made me wonder what was wrong with ME.    Because I could not relate to what they were doing.   It is not that they are better.  It was just that how they connected to Spirit did not resonate with me.
When I need it, it is just there.   All I have to do is say “I am ready” and the information flows.   “I am done” means just that.   I trust that I am protected and will only connect with the highest level of Spirits and that it will be only for the highest and best of the person I am conveying the message to.  Private readings are opening me up to new experiences.  The more I work with Spirit, the stronger I become.
I felt like I was some sort of fraud because I did not need to do the things that all those that have certifications needed to do.  All these people that I thought I had conversations with suddenly turned into the realization that they were real conversations.  The realization that Spirit will only give me the people I can help the most has been powerful.   I may not be the busiest at a venue, but I know whoever sits with me; I am the one to help them at that time.

Recognizing Spirit

First off we all have these abilities.   Everyone has this connection.  Some are more developed than others.   Yes — EVERYONE.   For me (and other Natural Born Mediums) — it just has always been there.

It can be taught.  The awareness, the ability to communicate with the other side.  It is a muscle.  You just need to exercise it.   I see it that people need to meditate and psych themselves into getting the information.   They struggle to get to the point to give a message.    They have to do all sorts of things to protect themselves from lower vibrations.

You may be wondering who is right to work with.   I say it is about the connection you make with the Medium that is important.   Watch them work at public venues, see if what they say resonates with you.

It may not be the person with all the certificates that they wave in your face that is best for you.   Yes they (certificates) give you a baseline, but not all those that hand out certificates judge the same way.   Some of the best messages I have been given are from those without those certificates.  I have had great messages from those that have certificates as well.  Again, no one Medium is better than another.

You will know who is best to work with.  As for me, right now I have no Certificates to wave in front of you.   One day, I may decide it is worth it, and I may even work towards becoming a Registered Medium at Lily Dale.   For now, I choose not to.
