We All Become Stories: Spirit, Legacy, and the Echo We Leave

Inspired by Margaret Atwood’s quote: “In the end, we’ll all become stories.”

Mediumship is never just about proof—it’s about presence. It’s about remembering. When Spirit comes through, they rarely share titles or achievements. More often, they bring a specific recipe, a favorite saying, or the way they always sang off-key in the car.

It’s their stories that come first.

And that’s what stays with us. We carry them in the stories we tell around the kitchen table, in the turns of phrase we pick up without realizing, in the way we hold the world a little differently because of how they lived.

I’ve come to believe that the story continues after death, just in a new form. Spirit reminds us that love doesn’t end, and neither does meaning. Even in grief, there’s an invitation to listen for the echoes. Not to replace the loss—but to recognize that nothing true is ever really lost.

You’re Still Writing Yours

There are days when those stories show up unexpectedly: a cardinal at the window, a song on the radio, or a nudge from within that feels like more than just coincidence. These are not just memories; they are contact points.

We are made of stories, and when our time comes, we’ll become them too. What a powerful legacy to leave behind—not just in what we did, but in how we made others feel, how we offered love, and how we lived in alignment with our soul.

For those in their second season of life, this becomes even more important. Not just looking back, but asking: What story am I still writing? There is time to turn the page, to choose a different rhythm, to speak more truth, and to deepen the impact of what’s already unfolding.

And if you’re missing someone, know this: they haven’t vanished. Their story didn’t end—it changed shape. Spirit shows up to remind us that connection continues, and love is always part of the narrative.

Journal Prompt:

What story do you want your life to tell—from the perspective of someone who loves you deeply?
Write it as though they’re describing your legacy in one of Spirit’s whispers.
