Preparing First-Time Sitters for a Reading
A first-time mediumship reading can bring excitement, curiosity, and a little nervousness. Many sitters arrive with expectations, questions, and sometimes even doubts. As a medium, you can help ease their experience by offering guidance on what to expect and how to prepare. When a sitter understands the process, they are more likely to relax and receive messages with an open heart.
Setting Expectations with Clarity
Before the session begins, explain how mediumship works in a simple, reassuring way. Let them know that spirit communication is about love, healing, and guidance. You might say, “I will share what comes through in the way spirit presents it. It may not always be who or what you expect, but trust that what comes is meant for you.”
Encouraging an Open Mind
A first-time sitter may have strong hopes of hearing from a specific loved one. Gently remind them that spirit communication doesn’t follow a script. Instead, encourage them to come with an open heart and trust that whoever steps forward has a reason for doing so. This helps prevent disappointment and allows for a more meaningful experience.
Addressing Common Concerns
Sitters often worry about whether they will receive a message, if they need to do anything special, or if their loved ones will “show up.” Reassure them that spirit operates in its own way and that messages will come as they are meant to. Let them know they don’t need to prove anything or force the process—just being present is enough.
Helping Them Feel Grounded
Encourage first-time sitters to take a few deep breaths before the session begins. If they feel nervous, suggest a simple grounding exercise, such as focusing on their breath or holding a small object that brings them comfort. A calm and centered energy allows for a smoother reading.
Closing with Reflection
At the end of the session, give them space to process what they’ve received. Ask if they have any questions and remind them that insights may unfold over time. Suggest they take a moment to reflect, journal, or sit with their emotions. Assure them that their loved ones are always near, even beyond the reading.
A first-time reading is a special experience. By guiding your sitters with warmth and reassurance, you help them open the door to a beautiful connection with spirit.
