Embrace the Journey: How to Navigate Struggles in Mediumship

How can one embrace the journey with so many obstacles?  Mediumship is a skill that grows over time, not something that comes perfectly from the start. Yet, many mediums give up too soon, believing that mistakes mean they aren’t cut out for the work. The truth is, struggle and mistakes are essential parts of the learning process. Every challenge offers a lesson, and every reading helps you grow.

In this post, we’ll explore practical ways to stay grounded during difficult readings, the role development circles play in growth, and why success in mediumship is about showing up—no matter what.

Why Mistakes Are Part of the Process

Mediumship isn’t about perfection. It’s about trusting the process, even when things don’t go as planned. Struggles are inevitable because learning how to connect with Spirit, interpret messages, and serve others takes time. Mistakes don’t mean failure—they mean you’re growing.

The key is to stay in the process, even when things feel difficult. Many mediums get stuck when a message doesn’t connect. But giving up only delays the opportunity to learn from that moment.

How to Stay Grounded in Difficult Readings

When a reading feels challenging, it’s easy to doubt yourself. In these moments, take a breath and center yourself. Ask: “Is this me, or is this them?” Sometimes, doubt creeps in from within. Other times, the sitter may not recognize the information right away—and that’s okay.

Here’s what to do next:

    • Breathe: Slow down and ground yourself in the moment.
    • Trust your guides: Draw on the relationship you’ve built with your Spirit team.
    • Move forward, even if it means pivoting: If needed, let go of the Spirit you’re working with and open yourself to a new connection.

Even when it seems like nothing is working, Spirit is guiding you toward an outcome—whether it’s a planted seed or a lesson in patience. And yes, sometimes you receive lessons within readings!

The Power of Learning in Development Circles

Development circles are invaluable for growth. These spaces are where mediums learn from one another’s experiences. Hearing how others navigate challenges helps prepare you for similar situations in your own practice. In circles, struggles become shared knowledge, and successes become sources of inspiration.

When you encounter a situation that stumps you, another medium’s story can offer the insight you need. In these spaces, there is no competition—only growth.

A Personal Story: The Power of Trusting Spirit

One day, I was giving a reading for someone, and the Spirit who came forward gave very specific details. I felt strongly it was a mother figure and relayed that information to the sitter. But the sitter insisted none of it made sense—her mother was still alive, couldn’t recognize the name that kept coming up and none of the details matched.

Weeks later, they called me, saying, “You’re never going to believe this! I was adopted, and my mother just told me because we were talking about the reading. The name you gave me was the one my birth mother gave me.”

This experience taught me that even when things don’t seem to connect in the moment, Spirit always knows what they are doing. Sometimes we’re meant to plant a seed that will bloom in its own time.

Redefining Success in Mediumship

Success in mediumship isn’t about perfect readings. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and trusting the process. Each time you sit in a reading or attend a development circle, you’re becoming the best version of yourself.

It’s important not to compare your journey to anyone else’s. Every medium grows at their own pace, and your only responsibility is to show up fully and embrace where you are right now.

Embrace the Journey

Mediumship is not a destination—it’s a lifelong journey. There will be highs and lows, moments of clarity, and times of doubt. The key to growth is to keep showing up and embracing both the challenges and the triumphs.

When you trust the process and stay committed to the work, mediumship becomes more than a skill—it becomes a journey of self-discovery, service, and connection with Spirit.
