How the Pandemic Sparked a Deeper Search for Mediumship and Meaning

Have you notices that since the pandemic, you have been in a deeper search for meaning?  When the world stopped, something deeper started.

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us were just trying to get through the day. The grief, fear, and uncertainty touched every corner of life. As a Medium and spiritual teacher, I witnessed not only my own unraveling—but also a collective reaching, a hunger for answers that couldn’t be found on the news or in a Google search.

We turned inward, because the outside world was too much. And for many, that inward turn led straight to Spirit.

What I Witnessed as a Working Medium

Before the shutdowns, I was just getting back on my feet after multiple surgeries. I had started leading weekly development circles again—until everything had to move online. Then, a health setback required me to pause. I sent cards. I made phone calls. I did what I could while my body demanded stillness.

Yet even in my own healing, I noticed the shift.

People wanted readings. They wanted to know if their loved ones were okay. They were asking questions about their life purpose, about their soul’s journey, about why this was all happening. Mediumship wasn’t a curiosity anymore—it was a lifeline.

Spirit Showed Up Differently

During that time, Spirit showed up in gentler ways. They protected me when I was too unwell to receive. They nudged me only when someone needed real support. That quiet but profound presence helped me see that Spirit isn’t separate from us—they walk with us, especially in times of crisis.

This deepened my own relationship with the unseen world. It wasn’t about performance or perfection. It was about presence.

Teaching Took on New Meaning

Teaching online was not easy. While doing readings over Zoom is nearly the same as in person, teaching requires more nuance. And yet, my circles became more than lessons—they became lifelines of their own.

Instead of weekly instruction, I began hosting “catch-ups.” We baked, we cried, we connected. I remember the joy of finally mastering béarnaise sauce and sharing that moment with others. It was never just about mediumship—it was about staying human.

But not everyone could handle the intensity. Some students walked away from their practice. Some simply disappeared. I used to think I failed them, but I now see it differently. We were all being reshaped. It’s why today, I lead with boundaries first. You can’t be of service if you’re depleted.

A Broader Spiritual Awakening

Pandemics aren’t new to Spiritualism. History shows us that interest in mediumship tends to spike during mass loss. The Civil War. The Spanish flu. Both World Wars. In times of global grief, people yearn for connection—and not just with each other, but with something beyond.

COVID-19 was no different. Traditional religion didn’t always have the answers people were looking for. Organized Spiritualism itself has its fractures. But the call for depth, for meaning, for healing? That’s real. That’s growing.

So, Where Do We Go From Here?

We’re not out of the woods, but many of us are waking up differently. With more compassion. With more questions. With a stronger desire to walk our spiritual paths authentically.  Maybe you’ve felt that call, too.

Ask Yourself:

  • What spiritual questions became louder for me during the pandemic?
  • How did I respond when everything went quiet?
  • Did I feel called to something deeper—and did I follow it?
  • What helped me feel spiritually supported during that time?
  • What does healing look like for me now?

Your story matters.

Maybe you baked through your grief like I did. Maybe you had to walk away from everything for a while. Maybe you’re just now realizing you want to reconnect with Spirit.

However the pandemic changed you, your soul noticed. And it’s never too late to answer that inner nudge.

If you’re feeling called to explore mediumship or deepen your spiritual connection, you’re not alone. The search for meaning is holy work—and it’s work you don’t have to do alone.
