Recognize the Lesson: Trusting Spirit’s Wisdom in Mediumship
Recognize the Lesson: Trusting Spirit’s Wisdom in Mediumship
Sometimes we need help to recognize the lesson of a situation. One of the most important things we learn on the mediumship journey is that challenges often hold our greatest lessons. Sometimes, it’s only after we’ve experienced something difficult or uncomfortable that we can see the deeper wisdom Spirit was trying to teach us. Recognizing the lesson in these moments can shift the way we approach mediumship and strengthen our connection with Spirit.
A Tough Lesson: Knowing Doesn’t Always Mean Sharing
One of the hardest lessons I learned was that just because you know something doesn’t mean you should share it. Early in my journey, I lost a friendship because I delivered information that wasn’t meant to be said. At the time, I didn’t realize the impact it would have, but in hindsight, I understood the importance of discernment.
This experience taught me the value of setting clear boundaries with Spirit. Now, I’m much more direct when asking Spirit for guidance. I make it clear that the information I receive must always be for the highest and best of everyone involved. Since setting that boundary, I’ve never again received information that wasn’t in the sitter’s best interest.
However, that lesson came through a mistake. Sometimes, the only way to truly learn a lesson is by making a mistake—regrettably, it’s part of the journey. As painful as it was, that mistake became a pivotal moment in my growth as a medium.
Learning to Pause and Reflect
For student mediums, one of the most important habits to develop is taking a moment to pause and reflect before delivering a message. Spirit offers us information for a reason, but it’s up to us to discern whether or not it’s appropriate to share. The pause gives you time to check in with Spirit, to ensure that the message aligns with the sitter’s highest good.
This is where patience comes into play. Developing your mediumship skills isn’t just about delivering messages; it’s about learning to trust the timing and purpose of each piece of information you receive. Patience teaches you to stay open to Spirit’s wisdom and to allow the message to unfold at its own pace.
Doing the Work: Building Confidence with Spirit
I often remind my students that mediumship is more than just attending classes or participating in development circles. While these are important, the real growth happens when you work with Spirit on your own. Building a relationship with Spirit and developing confidence in your connection is essential to recognizing the lessons Spirit is teaching you.
Working with Spirit requires patience. It’s tempting to rush the process, to want quick answers and immediate validation, but mediumship isn’t a race. The lessons Spirit offers us are often subtle, revealed over time through practice and reflection. The more you work with Spirit, the more you’ll begin to recognize the lessons in each experience, whether it’s a successful reading or a challenging one.
Recognizing the Lesson in Challenges
Challenges in mediumship can feel frustrating, but they’re also opportunities for growth. Sometimes, it takes making a mistake to truly learn the lesson Spirit is trying to teach you. When something doesn’t go as planned, take a step back and ask yourself: What is Spirit trying to teach me here? Maybe the lesson is about trusting your intuition, letting go of the need for perfection, or learning to set clearer boundaries.
Recognizing the lesson doesn’t always happen right away. Sometimes, it takes time and reflection to understand what Spirit was showing you. But if you remain open and patient, the lessons will reveal themselves, helping you grow stronger and more confident in your abilities.
Final Thoughts: Trust in the Lessons
As you develop your mediumship, remember that the challenges and mistakes are just as valuable as the successes. Sometimes, the only way to truly learn is by making a mistake. Every experience holds a lesson if you’re willing to look for it. Trust that Spirit is always guiding you, even when the message feels unclear or the situation is uncomfortable.
The next time you feel frustrated or unsure, pause, reflect, and ask Spirit what lesson is being offered. In doing so, you’ll find that even the most challenging moments on your mediumship journey are opportunities to grow and deepen your connection with Spirit.
