New Journaling Trends: How Journaling is Changing

Journaling trends come and they go.  It can be a powerful part of your self-care routine.  Journaling has always been a very open-minded activity without specific rules or ways that it needs to be done. However, there are some trends in journaling on their way out, and others that tend to be more popular lately. Here are some of the newest journaling trends to keep an eye out for.

Themes and Journal Prompts

The first trend that is picking up popularity more every day is using journal prompts or particular themes of journaling. While not a completely new trend, this is being utilized a lot more often.

With journal prompts, you are given writing prompts that provide a topic of what to write about. It not only helps people who are new to journaling and not sure how to start, but also if you are looking to get clarity about a particular subject.

Themed journals are also more popular, where you have a journal just for gratitude and another used for manifesting. You can find journals already set up for these themes, or get a blank journal and choose to use it for just one type of journal.

Multi-Media Journaling

You may also notice that multi-media journaling is also growing in popularity. This means that the journaling is not just pen and paper, in one way or another. This of course starts with bullet journaling, which is less about journaling your thoughts and feelings, and more about using it as a type of planner.

But many other forms of multi-media journaling exist, from using certain forms of art in your journal like drawing or painting, to choosing to add decorative elements to the pages.

Combining Journaling and Planning

If you are interested in using a planner, you can also find some that combine journaling and planning in one. This could be with printables you choose and put in a binder, or simply a large blank journal that also includes some planning pages. Other planners are set up with blank pages each day or week that you can use to journal your thoughts. Or maybe you just want to create a daily routine of first using your planner, then writing in your journal.

Using Journaling for Spirituality

Journaling trends come and go, lately it has been inspired by the Spiritual Community.  A newer type of journaling trend is related to spiritual practices. Not so much religion, though that can also be included here, but for spiritual practices like tapping into your intuition, expanding your spirituality, and manifesting with the law of attraction. Like other forms of journaling, this is entirely up to you with how you want to do it and what kind of journal to use. However, if you are interested in the law of attraction, scripting in your journal is an easy way to start.
