set intention

You often hear spiritual teachers reminding students to set intentions.   When it comes to mediumship, the energy you bring to your spiritual practice makes all the difference. One of the most powerful tools you can use to strengthen your connection with Spirit is learning to set intentions. By setting clear intentions, you focus your energy and create the space for more meaningful, accurate messages from Spirit.

What Does It Mean to Set Intentions?

To set intentions is to create a clear, focused energy before beginning any spiritual practice. It’s your conscious decision about what you hope to achieve or experience during a reading or session with Spirit. Whether your goal is to receive clear guidance, connect with a loved one in Spirit, or offer healing, your intention acts as a guide for the energy exchange.

When you set intentions, you’re aligning your mind, body, and spirit toward a specific outcome. This signals to Spirit that you are ready to receive or share messages with purpose. Importantly, your intention should always be set for the highest and best for all involved—this means considering the well-being of the spirit, the sitter, and yourself as the medium.

Why Should You Set Intentions in Mediumship?

Setting intentions creates a sacred, focused space where you can work more harmoniously with Spirit. By taking a moment to set intentions before a reading, you ground yourself and align your energy with a clear purpose. This not only enhances the messages that come through but also ensures that the session serves the highest good of the spirit, the sitter, and the medium.

For example, when you set an intention to bring healing messages to a sitter, you may notice the energy of the reading shifting toward that focus. Setting intentions helps guide the flow of the session and strengthens your connection with Spirit. It also creates a safe, respectful environment for everyone involved.

How to Set Intentions

Ground Yourself
Before starting a reading, take a moment to ground yourself. This can be as simple as deep breathing, meditation, or feeling your feet on the ground. Grounding helps you center your energy and prepares you to set intentions clearly.

Be Specific
Vague intentions often lead to scattered results. When you set intentions, be as specific as possible. Instead of saying, “I want to connect with Spirit,” try something like, “I set the intention to connect with Spirit to offer clarity and guidance to this sitter today.” The clearer your intention, the more focused the energy.

Focus on the Highest Good
Always set intentions with the highest and best outcome in mind for everyone involved. You might say, “I set the intention that this reading serves the highest good for the spirit, the sitter, and myself.” This invites harmony and respect into the reading.

Affirm the Present Moment
Use affirmative language when setting intentions. Phrase your intention in the present tense as if it’s already happening. For example, “I am open to receiving clear messages from Spirit for the highest good of all.”

Trust and Let Go
Once you’ve set intentions, trust the process. Release any expectations and allow Spirit to guide the reading. Sometimes, the outcome may look different than you expected, but trusting in the intention helps ensure that the right messages come through.

Examples of Setting Intentions in Mediumship

    • “I set the intention to be a clear channel for Spirit, allowing messages to flow freely and accurately for the highest good.”
    • “I open my heart to Spirit and set the intention for healing, love, and connection to guide this session.”
    • “I set the intention that this reading serves the highest good for the spirit, the sitter, and myself as the medium.”

The Power of Setting Intentions in Mediumship

Over time, setting intentions becomes second nature and will deepen your connection with Spirit. It’s like having a spiritual compass that keeps you aligned with your purpose. When you consistently set intentions, you’ll notice that your readings become more focused, the messages clearer, and the experience more fulfilling for both you and your sitter.

Setting intentions for the highest and best for all involved ensures that the energy exchange is respectful and powerful. As you continue to set intentions, your mediumship will grow, and you’ll create stronger, more meaningful connections with Spirit.
