2021 Three Words

For many years I have been doing #mythreewords so it is important to carry on the tradition with my 2021 Three Words. How to do this is well explained in my reflecting post on how important this tradition has become to me. It was in early November that I decided it was time to reflect on the power of three words can have in my life.

Just look at the past words I have used:

2020 – Movement, Voice & Release

2019 – Adventure, Discernment and Peace

2018 – Connection, Joy & Gratitude

Reflecting on 2020 Words

I think we can all agree that 2020 was not the greatest year for many. Yet my words, movement voice and release were really important to me. Release was my tough word. Letting go instead of fighting on so many levels, personal and business. Learning to release control and let things be the way that they were going to evolve.

Movement was tied to that, moving myself away from hostile situations and allowing myself grace. Voice was using “no” without explaining myself. I went into it thinking they would mean different things at the end of the year. Silly me, I still have hopes the words will do what I want. I did increase my movement after all the surgeries I had, and voice I thought would be more about my writing on the BRCA journey I have been on. Release was all about letting go of all the plans I had and more importantly anger that was associated with it. In the long run, I am grateful for these words.

George picked build, believe and inspire. He is still working through what those words meant to him and what his 2021 words will be. I will give him the grace to come to them on his terms.

2021 Three Words Came Easy — This Time

Bounce, engage and complete as my 2021 Three Words. Why you ask, well they just felt right for me. Bounce was the first word that I wrote down as possible. I didn’t waver from it. The word Engage brings me back to Captain Picard’s key phrase and the Star Trek geek in me said “make it so”. I almost didn’t use it because of that fact, but the inner geek in me won out. Complete, there are so many projects that got put on hold because of surgeries and now Covid-19 restrictions. Even more importantly, I think complete is a word I need to remind myself that after all these life altering surgeries, I am complete.
