Today there are several people that are cringing because they do not have a Valentine.  Just look in any direction and today there are tons of reminders of love.   For weeks now you couldn’t walk into a store or turn on the TV without a commercial idealizing romance.   Even I have written a post or two of the things you could do for Valentine’s Day.  There are many reasons people are not with those that they love today:

  • Their loved one lives in a different city
  • They serve in the military and are away from those they love
  • Work circumstances demand it (I feel this one)
  • Their loved one has passed away
  • They recently broke up with someone

Last year I wrote about Valentine’s Day and set an intention for more romance in my life.   I started with myself.   Treating myself as if I loved myself.   It paid off in many ways.   So remember if you are not with someone and feel that all this focus on love and romance is a little too much, try taking some time and focusing in on yourself.

Be a Valentine

Let me pose this idea to you…   If you are feeling lonely and upset and sad this Valentine’s day — why don’t you do something nice for someone else?   There are plenty of people that are in the same exact position you are in.   Go buy a stack of Valentine’s and every person you know that doesn’t have someone to share this day with and give them a Valentine.

There is a scene in Downton Abby where Daisy the kitchen maid receives a mysterious Valentine.   It was her boss, Mrs. Patmore who did not want her charge to be the only one of staff to not get one.   It bonds their friendship and makes for someone who is often lost in the shuffle feel special.   So today, take a moment and be Mrs. Patmore with not expectation of getting anything in return.  Let the kind gesture from you and the smile on the recepients face be your reward.

As for me, yes I have someone in my life, we live an hour from each other and won’t be together.   We decided to just exchange cards and that is it.   We love each other, and a Hallmark created day doesn’t mean much to us.   It is the every day moments that we find romance — walking hand in hand, bringing flowers for no reason, or sharing an ice cream creation together.   That is what makes every day with George – Valentine’s Day…    I will be on Spirit of the Storm Radio at 9pm giving free readings with a couple of great Mediums.   Come join the fun…
