Development Circle

Back in 2018 I started a Development Circle in Rochester NY.   I started leading Development Circles because so many people are lost and they are looking for a way.   Too often those that teach are very rigid in what they teach and how people should develop.   Regrettably, that is not always the best way to develop your mediumship skills.   We are all uniquely gifted and we develop at different rates.

I have been experimenting with the format.   So many times I go to a circle and the focus is on the meditation that I find there is little time to practice and share knowledge.    I have found that with this group a 5-7 meditation just about right to let go of the day and prepare for the work ahead.   That doesn’t mean that we won’t have specific days with longer meditation, but for the most part it is the shorter meditations.  I have even tried singing upbeat fun songs…   It is just something to make it different and raise the vibration.

Development Circle – How Should they look/feel?

Your Development circle should meet regularly and they should be no longer than two hours once a week.   There is great debate in how many participants is too many or too little.   I have taken the stance that our circle is flexible and who can make it is there and who cannot is welcome when they can.   Our circle at Plymouth is as small as eight and the largest group has been 19.   There are two of us that are there that if need be we can break into smaller groups and still be successful.   There always have a plan for more.   Since it is on the schedule for a long period of time, there will be overlap if someone misses a session.

A Development Circle should be flexible in the needs of the participants and touch on a wide range of skills.   Even the most experienced Medium can benefit from going back to the basics.   It is also important to discuss ethics and share experiences from private readings, events we attend and platform experiences.   It is that sharing that may just assist someone who is new to Development to understand their own process in communicating.

I give home work and notebook exercises that will help people further their experience and understanding of how Spirit works with them.   I never ask to see what people do or do not do.   We discuss each assignment the following week and see if there are questions.   I care that people develop on their own schedule.  The worst thing I can do is demand that they develop at the same rate I did.  I know that people when the time is right for them — will revisit the exercises as needed.

Not all Development Circles are Equal

Being with like minded people and with lots of practice will build your confidence.  If you do not feel that you are getting something out of a circle you are attending, then find another one.   Initially I had to participate in 5 or 6 until it worked for me.   Each time I gave them 6 sessions before I said “not the right group”.   When I found the right group — magic happened for me.   I developed in ways that I never thought was possible.  You too can have a positive experience; you may just have to start your own circle.
