What is free will?   Free will is the power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate; the ability to act at one’s own discretion.  Nobody should try and manipulate how someone should or should not interpret a message given to them from Spirit.   A person’s free will should never be messed with.

Recently I had an experience at a Gallery Reading that I need to discuss.   I was sitting in an audience and watched a situation unfold in front of me with another person giving a message and the recipient strongly objecting to the suggested advice.

Instead of leaving it with the person, they persisted why they needed to do something  and they started to interject their judgement about a recipients reaction to a message being given.   Outright telling them that they had to do what was suggested from beyond.   When that didn’t work they went to guilt.   That by not doing so — it was preventing the Spirit from going to heaven.

Imagine the damage that could be done to the recipient for a moment.   Fortunately for that person, I was there with them, they are my friend.    We had a lengthy talk about one of the major spiritual principles – “We affirm that the doorway to reformation is never closed against any soul here or hereafter.”  I too know that it was important for this person to do what was suggested but for a different reason.   I also know that they are not ready.   Beating them up over it, applying guilt will not help them get to that point faster.  In fact, it will delay it significantly.

It is never appropriate to interject our opinions and judgements on a sitter. They have free will to take or leave the advice given from Spirit.

Our Opinions Should Not Be Part of the Message

As a Medium — our opinions do not matter when giving a message.   The message is not for us to interpret.   Our job is to deliver the message to the person and then let it go.   We are not to berate the person receiving the message, and if they resist we must remember that at some times all we are meant to do is plant a seed.   The Universe will find another way to help.   All we are asked to do relay the message.   By no means are are we make the recipient to feel they are responsible for what happens to someone’s spiritual progression.

If you find yourself interjecting YOUR thoughts and feelings.   Stop!    You just have overstepped what you should be doing in the message you are giving.   The minute you are feeling judgement it is time to let the message go.   If the person asks you for your opinion, kindly remind them it is not your place to have one.   Give what you get, do not interpret what you are getting.  We can only ask for clarification and more information.

Free will applies to the Medium as well.   Some operate at a higher standard than others and that is why I wish that there were a professional standard that the public had to judge all by.   For now, I have my own Code of Ethics and that is how I operate.

One thought on “Free Will – Ethics and Mediumship

  1. I believe you know that I whole heartedly agree with you on the ethics of delivering messages. A sitter could be better off not receiving a “messege” from such a person. I have seen the effect of such ego driven behavior. I am glad the sitter was someone that trusted you and you had the opportunity to “fix” it.
