Broken dreams devestate people.   It can crush people to the very core.   Remants of those broken dreams can be found years after they are shattered.   In my travels around Western New York, I see abandoned homes.   Homes that at one point were built with a bunch of dreams associated with them.   The families had great hopes for these homes that now sit waiting for a wrecking ball.

Awhile back in my travels on the back road of WNY I found the remants of someone’s broken dreams.   It has a stream that is nearby and close to an intersection.   It is on a street that there are several homes that have been left by previous owners.  Crumbling and being overtaken by nature.  Out in the middle of not much going on.

It isn’t just out in the middle of nowhere does this happen.  I see it everywhere of late.   This house caught me and said to me I mattered, there was love here.  I just want someone to recognize it.

For a moment I saw a broken old abandoned house and saw myself.   I recognized in that moment that even in the most horrible moment there is beauty and something to be loved.   Perhaps we all need to stop a moment and find a reason to love more often.   Acknowledge the beauty in a moment and be just a little more loving to one another.  Just for today instead of dashing dreams why don’t we all try and encourage one another.   When you see someone suffering do something to make their day better.   Their dreams may still fail, but the knowlege of your kindness will remain.

Too many people are quick to relish in the failures of others in order to feel better about their own life.  Failing to understand that when one of us succeeds, we all to and that gratitude is the gratest gift we can share with others.
